review 1: This book has made me crave tofu and sake. Not to mention all the other wonderful sounding food that Sensei and Tsukiko eat along the way. I like how this romance between the two of them centered around food and alcohol, the atmosphere of this novel was just very realistic, the culture of Japan shining through. The ending I found was a little abrupt and kind of left me with a lost feeling. However, this may have been the intention of the author. I found the last few lines were extremely powerful. Overall, it was a lovely, refreshing story.
review 2: During reading, I just can't stop asking "why should i care?" why should i care about a story between a middle-aged woman who can burst into sudden tears (i mean, come on...you are thirty eight! grow up!) and a seni
... moreor citizen who constantly asks you out or runs into you and asks about your date yet claims himself not interested in you (sugar daddy). i just can't see the significance in it and im not touched at all. less

Perfect as it is and very evocative of Tokyo. A small, quiet little book.
