review 1: I’ve finished Hana to Akuma today, and all I can say is that it was perfect. The character build up, the development of the story line. Everything. Even the absolutely heartbreaking ending, which we all knew was inevitable. The way it had ended was nothing short of absolute perfection. The sorrow brought about by Hana’s death together with the joys of the gifts she left behind, their children, were heartbreakingly beautiful. It was a perfect tragedy, since the whole story basically revolved around Vivi learning to love something fragile and beautiful, much like a flower.Their promise of forever, tied the whole thing together. Vivi loved her so much that even though he knew they could only spend a limited amount of time together, he still chose to surrender his heart com... morepletely. She aged, and he didn’t, but he still loved her all the same. The way he smiled sadly as she was on her deathbed, and as he visited her gravestone, meant that no matter how brief their time was, he had cherished every minute of it. Even though she was gone, he kept his promise. He loved her, and with her in his heart, they were together. And fuck this, I am crying again. This series invokes so many emotions that I cannot take reign of them all.
review 2: It was one of those mangas where I was waiting every month for the release. None of the chapters disappointed me though. The evolution the characters do through amazed me, the heartbreaking realization of Hana and Bibi that they are actually in love with each other. the story practically follows Hana growing up and from a naive child to become a fine woman, later loved by demons. By the end of the manga I expected a happy ending, and in a way or other that's what the author gave us. It was truly a teary good ending and I couldn't ask for more. Hana showed me through her personality what love truly is and it doesn't matter whatever age difference is there. I must add that whenever I don't know what to write or read I usually pick up this manga and go over and over the chapters remembering the mixed feelings I had while reading this. less
