review 1: It had a pretty compelling beginning. No spoilers. Very believable and a family falling apart. Then it got very weak. The parents chapters weren't about their daughter but their own selfish problems, barely mentioning their daughter in their inner thoughts. In the meantime Marley has some serious street psychology strategy considering her age and the home she grew up in. Despite therapy for a weird unfulfilling answer. Then it picked up again. There were epiphanies. More realistic moments. A bizarre conspiracy that could have been cooler. It had it's moments. Easy read. Was looking forward to it.
review 2: *3.5 stars* -- I enjoyed this book and it held my interest throughout. This is the story of a 14-year-old girl who has connected online with a boy. She run... mores away from her home in California and travels to Durham, North Carolina by bus to join him. The story is told alternately from her perspective and her Mom's. This author has apparently written 5 unpublished novels prior to this book. She should be encouraged to continue writing as I think she has talent. less
