review 1: Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off. Ninako tells Ren she loves him. But Ren has a girlfriend who is Daiki's sister! (OMG! You actually learn this in Vol. 1). Even though she is heartbroken, Ninako asks Ren if they can still be friends. A new character is also introduced: Ando, a classmate of Ren's from middle school. Ando is a flirt, asking all the girls for their cell phone numbers. However, there's something about Ninako that makes him start having feelings for her. How every soap opera-ish!The story ends with another cliffhanger.The graphic novel also includes a bonus chapter of how Ren met Mayuka (his girlfriend and Daiki's older sister).My one complaint is how the female characters (Ninako and Mayuka in the bonus chapter) are so weak. Ninako cries at the drop o... moref a hat. She worries that Ren is mad at her because she ran off with Ando while they were all shopping(which was totally Ando's fault anyway). When Ren does appear mad, she thinks it's her fault, but really he's just protecting her (why do the female characters always need protecting)for reasons you'll learn more about in Volume 3.As for Mayuka, she thinks her relationship with Ren is going to fail from the time they start dating. Maybe it's because her parents divorced, but she is anxious the entire time they are together. "Sooner or later it was going to end." I just want to tell her to enjoy the time they have together!!Despite that, I think Strobe Edge will continue to be a popular series. I'll be interested to see how it circulates here at the library.
review 2: Mi piace il modo in cui la Sakisaka disegna gli occhi dei suoi personaggi: sono due tondi perfetti! ^__^A parte questo. Pensavo che il triangolo della storia fosse tra Ninako, Daiki e Ren. Ma Daiki ormai sembra preso da Sayuri e pian piano sta dimenticando Ninako. Però appare Andō, che si mette a chiedere il numero di cellulare sia a Sayuri che a Ninako.Vedremo cosa succederà...Bello il capitolo bonus in cui si racconta la storia del primo incontro e dell'innamoramento tra Ren e la sorella di Daiki, che adesso fa la modella. less
