review 1: I was excited about reading this book, as I was intrigued by the infection that was taking the world by storm in the book "Warm Bodies". This book follows the lives of Nora and her brother, Julie and her mum and dad, and R. It was good to understand the back story behind the characters, however I felt that this book had so much more to offer than what was in it. It did not explain how the infection started, the book starts with the main characters trying to find other people and shelter. It was a slow read at the start, however, as I said, it was good to understand a bit more about the main characters and how they ended up in the stadium/ airport. I would recommend to anyone who enjoyed reading "Warm Bodies".

... mores such works reasonably well.I broke my usual habit and watched the movie first, then got the book out from the library where I work. While reserving it, I discovered this prequel, and decided that I should at least read the books in event order.I think I actually appreciated it more having seen the movie than I would have coming to it in isolation as the introduction to the world Marion creates. It was an interesting way to meet the characters, though we cannot be 100% sure until the very end that the tall man is indeed who he turns out to be.As an explanation of how the world came to have such creatures in it, I found it slightly wanting. There is mention of global events taking place over several years, and I can understand that revealing the past in the references that are made serves the story rather than an exposition, but I would have liked a little more. Perhaps we learn more in "Warm Bodies" itself. I did appreciate the line about God breaking his promise not to send another flood. A very natural reaction.Fans will enjoy it. I'm not sure the casual reader would want to bother. less

It's good as a novella but honestly I expected more from a prequel.
