review 1: Disappointed and I can't put my finger on the why.The hero is charming and a bit unworldly. His family history is scandalous so he needs a bride who will lend respectibility.Heroine is innocent and spirited without being too annoying. They have been betrothed since before her birth, but she was never told about the agreement. (Really? That pushed the believability boundery for me.)For the first half of the book, there isn't much conflict. It's pure romance so I had a difficult time understanding what the story was about. The romance was cute, but not especially memorable. The conflict and plot begin after they are married when his childhood memories and advice of this closest friend get in the way of his marriage.Being so young, the heroine doesn't have any personal problem... mores or internal conflict to deal with except for her husband's strange behavior. But she does grow up and stop trusting strangers. The climax was flat. Here it is one day after I read the book and I can hardly remember what happened. All the same, I finished reading the story because of the likable characters. I did want to see them reach their happily ever after.
review 2: 4 STARS (I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review)."Raised in the Dorset countryside, Lady Charlotte Wylder doesn't care one bit about well-bred decorum. The dark-haired, blue-eyed beauty would rather ride a horse than attend a stuffy ball. So when Charlotte learns that she is to leave immediately for London to wed the Duke of Marchbourne, a perfect model of aristocratic propriety, she is less than enchanted with her arranged marriage. But to her delight, their first encounters are brazenly flirtatious, and their wedding night burns with passion. March's broad shoulders and dark countenance make Charlotte want to rip every button off his waistcoast. She may even be falling in love with her new husband. Yet whenever their desire boils over, March reluctantly pushes Charlotte away. Will past secrets and present misunderstandings mire their marriage in scandal, or serve to strengthen a bond that is destined to last a lifetime?" (From Amazon)I put this book on hold because I liked the cover and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. It is a sweet romantic story about a couple who were matched as children by their fathers. Her blue blood would make his line more legitimate and his Dukedom would give her status and place in society. I am not a historian so I am not sure how realistic this love story is but this is what I imagine a good arrange marriage would be like. Charlotte's upbeatness and innocence makes her endearing when she could come off annoying. March is a flawed hero trying to come into his own while trying to be proper and responsible. Charlotte has 2 other sisters and this is a trilogy... less

Nope. I can't. Between the weird naming and the tooth-aching tweeness, I can't.
