review 1: OK... I think I'm done with the Jack Daniels series. This book was so highly rated by so many readers that I thought I'd stick with it. The formula changed only a little bit but seriously... This book wasn't worth the time I spent reading it. I'm sorry but Jack Daniels is turning into Hardy Boyds for adults. The same formula and just absolutely unbelievable criminal characters whose motivation is off the wall. I'm done...
review 2: J.A. Konrath is the latest author to join my list of favorites. I am quickly devouring every word he has written. With this book, I enjoyed the three timelines. It was nice to 'see' Herb thin and Jack wet behind the ears. And it is always nice to know why someone is trying to kill your heroine. I enjoyed finding out the bac... morek stories in simultaneously unfolding mysteries rather than flashbacks. It was different and fun. less
