review 1: My first grader grandson picked this out at a school book fair. Of course grandma was happy to buy him a book. I read it while he was immersed in the book grandpa bought him. He can easily read chapter books at the 2nd/3rd grade level, but I am not sure this is a good choice for a first grader. Many "scary" books for young readers have an alternate world that the hero enters. In this case the school building itself is the monster. This may be a bit much for the youngest readers. He will finish it today when I am not with him. He will probably tell me it was a good book, but I will still wonder if it is a bit too frightening for him.
review 2: Sam Graves is the new hall monitor for Eerie Elementary, and his new job is not to his liking. After all, he will nee... mored to correct his classmates and make sure they behave in the right way in the halls. But it turns out that his responsibilities are far more than maintaining order in the halls. Sam is the only thing that stands between his schoolmates and the school, which is actually alive and bent on killing its students. If only its walls could talk, what stories could this school tell? This first title in a new series should keep young readers turning those pages eagerly since it is easy to read and contains several illustrations too. less
