review 1: If You’re a Sucker for a Tortured Hero, you’ll fall for Kit. And right from the start, Maddy is perfect for him—strong, steady, sensible, quick-thinking, though she has some pretty serious problems of her own. The development of the characters and the romance was steady, but the plot made a couple of abrupt jumps (Kit’s healing and the ending, especially). The emotions and the love scenes are where this book (and it’s predecessor) truly excelled. You don't have to read the previous book, Wicked Surrender, to enjoy this one, but it might help you appreciate Kit's unfortunate (yet tragically appealing) transformation.
review 2: 3.5 My heart really hurt for Kit there..what happened to him in the previous book, how he was depicted in that one and then how
... more circumstances led him to become the shattered guy in this one is all too angsty! I liked Maddy's strong character but halfway through, the story got really abrupt. I literally turned pages to check maybe I skipped out something somewhere :( one minute Kit is having fits and is so broken that it makes you think how his journey to stability will be and next you know he'd gone for 6 weeks to his family and comes back a much healed person..that left a big gap there and that 'Rose' character was a highly irritiating female !!Have to read the previous book if you wanna check this one out!! less

I skipped ahead. It didn't look like the boringness improved any.
