review 1: The target audience for this book is teenage girls. I think were I still a teenager, I would have appreciated it more. 15 year old Lis London moves from Wales to rural Yorkshire in an effort to escape the bullying in her former high school. However, since her decision to move, she has been plagued by terrifying nightmares and when she arrives at Pike Hollow, her fears, both real and imagined, only intensify. The book was an occasionally genuinely spooky mystery with a strong anti-bullying message and emphasis on the importance of true friendship. Read for The Readers October book club selection
review 2: WOW! How does a male adult author understand been an outcast teenage girl so much? I didn't read Hollow Pike, I lived it! Parts of this book sent me back 10 y... moreears to been a very unhappy freak at high school which while this did make me feel twitchy remembering such things it made my heart race faster for Lis when things started getting very scary. I love reading about witchcraft it really draws me in and this book was no exception and there were times where I really started to get scared for wheat was going to happen next. The charters in this book where brilliant, they were incredibly real. So much so that you had different feelings for each one of them, be it love or hate. And the ending was a total surprise, I didn't see that coming! I really can’t say enough good things about Hollow Pike a defiant must read. less
