review 1: I really enjoyed this book. A lot. Of course, there are some flaws (as every book has), but not a lot, and it was really fun to read.Since this is a review, let's start with the flaws. As an immature and childish person myself, I connected Dirk's behavior as a childish twelve-year-old even though it (I thought, at least) is supposed to be the evil mind of an all-powerful dark overlord of a land run by that overlord's similarity evil and dark minions. I understand that since Dirk lost (almost all of) his powers, it can be impossible for him to do his Dark-Lordy business, but I might just be too critical of his behavior.Some good things about this book... Let's start with the writing style. Since it is in Dirk Lloyd's point of view (although it is not in first-person, which ... morewas interesting), the book easily filled in critical information that was easy to understand and fun to read. This made me read the book really fast, because of all the strange and interesting things this place called the 'Darklands' has. I would recommend this book to many people--any person, in fact--but a specific group would probably be the younger part of the population. And I realize that that's not very specific, but truthfully, I believe that anyone, regardless of age or anything, would enjoy this book.
review 2: Come vi sentireste se da incontrastato Oscuro Signore vi risvegliaste nel corpo di un umano e per giunta di tredici anni? Senza più nessun malefico potere, nessuna Agghiacciante Legione al vostro servizio, senza un Elmo del Potere a proteggere la vostra testa e senza nessuno possibilità di sottomettere qualsiasi forma vivente? Dirk Dark Lord Lloyd, viene ritrovato su un marciapiede nella cittadina di Whiteshields, non ricorda più chi è e soprattutto dice cose sconnesse, senza senso, su armate di Demoni, maghi bianchi, elfi dorati e Torri della Ferrea Disperazione. Ai suoi piedi una macchia scura di muco nero, che ha vomitato appena atterrato sulla Terra. Lui sa che è stato Hasdruban il Bianco a farlo precipitare in quella dimensione, ma ha tutta la voglia di uscirne, ma come se è intrappolato nel corpo di un bambino? Così Dirk si arrende e viene affidato, guarda un po’ alla famiglia PureJoy. La famiglia è composta da una donna prete anglicano, un uomo, il marito, che fa il medico e il loro figlio Christopher, che ha la stessa età (almeno all’apparenza) di Dirk. L’unico modo in cui Dirk ha di ritornare a casa è quello di crearsi dei fedeli attendenti che trova in Chris e Sooz, suoi compagni di classe in terza media. L’Oscuro Signore si troverà a dover dimostrare al mondo ed ai suoi amici, la sua perfidia e la sua natura letale, ma è molto dura farlo, se è necessario fare prima i compiti! Non occorre essere dei malvagi per godere appieno della lettura, una mente potente come quella dell’Oscuro Signore è in grado di volgere a suo piacimento le vostre preferenze, e alla fine sarete conquistati dalla storia. Lettura molto scorrevole, con un protagonista ispirato, affettuoso e brutale, che rallegra con le sue trovate e i suoi stratagemmi malefici. E' stata sufficiente una mezza giornata di lettura per finire il libro, che in definitiva ho trovato molto carino, e piacevole a sufficienza per intrattenere senza essere mai infantile o scontato. Orbene, siete infine giunti alla fine della rece patetiche entità, ma vedo un luccichio funesto nel vostro sguardo che mi compiace non poco. Sì! Credo di aver risvegliato in voi un pernicioso interesse per questa tenebrosa lettura. Credo dunque che risparmierò le vostre anime, almeno fino alla prossima rece.
