review 1: This was a great start to this series. I enjoy good books that involve a bit of magic or fairies or other supernatural or paranormal topics. I especially love to find ones like this for children or teens. I think it is important to help teens realize and understand that it's okay to be interested in something supernatural, paranormal or magical. I think kids would enjoy this book too. I enjoyed the female family line that was focused on in this book. I think it was a nice touch. I liked Birdie and her story and her qualities. I enjoyed reading about Kerka and Zally too and look forward to reading more about them in the next books in the series. I thought the book was brilliantly written, imaginative and fun! I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the rest.... more I just can't get them at my local library yet.
review 2: This is a very cute book that caught my eye right away on the shelf. Birdie is a lovable character, with some great life lessons to teach any young reader. I would recommend this book for families who may be having a difficult time. The troubles that Birdie go through are softened by the fantastical elements of her adventure. Fun, exciting, and fast-paced, this first book in the series will leave you itching to pick up the next book right away. less
