review 1: I loved this story. It's about Jemima who makes jewellery and sells it via various outlets that will stock it for her. When she is dropped from one of the outlets, she finds a guitar shop, which has belt buckles in the window and tries her luck. The shop is run by Ben Davies, whom Jem finds quite odd initially and yet she is drawn to him. Ben has a big secret but so, it transpires, does Jem. The story unfolds, including her friends Rosie and Jason, and Rosie's baby son Harry who actually plays a pivotal role in the story....
review 2: This was another freebie I got at the RT conference. It's a British selection but I enjoy the language and the change of pace that setting gives me. Jemima is struggling to make a life for herself after a bad past left her al
... moreone with only her jewelry making skills to support her. She lives with a friend who's had a baby with no daddy in sight. The struggles of the new mother added a lot of emotion to the story. Anyone thinking motherhood is a breeze should read this book. Then there are the guys. Ben is hiding something as he runs his guitar shop and his secret is a big one. The fact that he's sexy and everyone seems to recognize him but Jemima adds a new layer to their conflict. There's a mystery too though I figured it out fairly quickly. I liked this story. Almost took a star away because Jemima needed to get over her fear faster but it did feel real once we knew what had happened to her in the past. Interesting plot and not the same old, same old. Glad the Brits came to RT. less
