review 1: Nancy Clancy, Super Sleuth was a really great book for children who are just starting to read more advanced chapter books than the "I Can Read" type of books, but it's also a great selection for parents to read to their new or emerging readers. While my 6 year old daughter still loves me to read picture books to her, she really enjoyed reading about Nancy's attempt at being a detective. Nancy is a much better character for kids to read about than the bratty and foul-mouthed Junie B Jones. This book was more interesting than the Junie series as well, so you don't have to sacrifice an interesting story to get a better role model. I highly recommend this book, and most likely the series in its entirety, series for elementary school aged children.

... morecy Clancy puts her heart and soul into being a Super Sleuth. She has the attire. She has a partner who is her best friend, Bree. Nancy gets an opportunity to solve a mystery right in her very own classroom. She puts her skills to work and uses clues to figure out where Mr. Dudeny's special blue marble disappeared to. My third grade girls loved this book. They were all over the "Duh-duh-dunnnn" at the end of every chapter, before they shared what new information came along and changed their predictions about what happened to the marble. I enjoyed Nancy a bit more than Junie B. Jones, in that her quirky personality wasn't so over-the-top that it was hard to believe or relate to for these girls. The illustrations also drew the girls into the story. My secret hope is that Nancy Clancy, Secret Admirer, Book 2, will show up in my classroom, in the hands of one of the girls that listened in to book 1. If that happens, this will be revved up to a 5-star book! :) less

Fancy Nancy is growing up but she's still fabulous. This is a great first chapter book.

Meh. The picture books are cute, but the author should have stopped there.
