Nancy Clancy Chapter Books
review 1: Summary: Nancy Clancy is an underage super-sleuth with a penchant for crime solving. She and her partner Bree set out to solve a class mystery when her teacher's prized marble goes missing on family day. With the help of photographic evidence, various motives, occasional alibis, and some fabulous detective fashion Nancy sets out to bring the culprit to justice. The class bully, Grace, has the audacity to accuse Nancy of being the thief, so she and Bree work even harder to find the true villain! After a series of condemning events it is discovered that Nancy's little sister JoJo took the marble. She returns it to the teacher with an apology and Nancy's first case is successfully closed.Discussion Questions:1) What skills and tools do you need to be a good detective? Why are... more these helpful?2) Why is it important to have evidence when solving a crime?3) Have you ever kept a secret like Rhonda or JoJo? How did it make you feel to hide it?4) What could Nancy do to be a friend to Grace? Even if it's not easy?5) Do you think JoJo's punishment was fair? Why or why not?Citation: O'Connor, J. (2012). review 2: I loved the illustrations. One of the things I always looked for, in books I read my children, were the illustrations. The story is fun. Nancy and her friend Brie, have their own detective agency. The teachers, beautiful blue marble disappears, and the girls are on the case. Nancy figures out that her little sister, Jojo stole the marble. The girls are glad it wasn't one of their classmates. The parents have Jojo go to the teacher, after all the other students have left for the day, and apologize and give the teacher back his marble. The parents remind Nancy, that a similar thing happened to her as a little girl. I thought the story was fun, and taught a good lesson about stealing, and forgiveness, and making things right. I still have a hard time with babies and little girls having their ears pierced. In this book the two friends go to a teenaged baby sitters one evening. Nancy wants her ears pierced before her birthday. The girls look at all of the sitters ear rings, as Nancy dreams of having her ears pierced. The author said that only five of the girls in Nancy's class, don't have pierced ears. It seems that ear Piercing and tattoos are the thing to do now days. I still don't care for either. less
