review 1: In Crouch’s mystery suspense novel, a serial killer called “Simon Says” is hitting the streets of San Francisco with a vengeance. The FBI is desperate to find answers and solve the case before more women die at his hands. To do this, they reach out to Adrienne Jeffries. Adrienne has an uncanny gift for getting inside the minds of dangerous people. Ten years ago she worked for the FBI only to burnout and dropout of sight. Agent Connor Perigo has been sent to find her and bring her in regardless of the cost. Skeptical, Connor doesn’t really believe in psychics, but to solve the case he reels her in completely unprepared for the attraction that engulfs him. With little time to spare, they team together, for better or worse, to bring down a killer.Fast-paced, ha... morerd-to-put-down read!
review 2: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book by Janie Crouch. It is a Harlequin Intrigue and only 217 pages long. Janie Crouch packs a lot into that 217 pages. She has a tight, suspenseful plot with romance and sarcastic office humor. She reminds me a lot of Linda Howard. She is excellent in this short format. In a longer format, she will be an awesome author.Connor and Seth are FBI agents whose current case is a serial killer who has killed 5 women in 10 months. They have packages with locks of the women's hair with a note from "Simon Says" and no leads. Their supervisor wants them to contact Adrienne, who once worked as an FBI consultant. They are told to use any means to get her to cooperate and gives them info on her ranch manager to leverage insure that she will. Connor feels that something isn't right about this, there is little to no info in her file, her nickname was the "Bloodhound" and legend has it that she had a extraordinary closure rate, then she quit. When Connor and Adrienne meet, sparks fly and not the romantic kind. Adrienne earned her nickname "Bloodhound" for her ability to sense inherent evil intent from objects perp handled. Connor is unconvinced, at first. Getting inside the mind of evil is not without consequences for Adrienne and Connor is beside himself at what happens to her. He is powerless to help or protect her. less
