ADD TO GOODREADS Before I give my review for the last book in the Silver series, I’ll be rating the first two books in the series.Just Dreaming by Kerstin Gier
Publisher: Henry Holt
Read from: Sept 17 – 19
Publication: May 2, 2017
My rating: 2 of 5 starsSummary:
A dream traveler faces the greatest challenge she’s yet encountered in this gripping third and final book of the Silver trilogy. The course of dream travel never did run smooth—at least, not in Liv Silver’s experience. Able to visit other people’s dreams (whether they want her to or not), Liv has solved mysteries, unearthed difficult truths, fought madmen, and escaped life-threatening peril, all from the comfort of her own bed. But Liv’s troubles are just beginning.
A rocky romance, a malicious blogger with a hidden identity, a wedding, and a classmate (or two) dead-set on revenge all await Liv in this action-packed conclusion to the Silver trilogy.

Now, my review:Just Dreaming? I think you mean, Just Annoying.
The book isn’t bad. It’s just that… It’s just difficult to keep reading when I’m not a fan of any of the characters in this book.
– Liv is annoying. All she did was ask questions (STATIC character since Dream a Little Dream), gets scared, gets surprised, gets worried. These are her usual emotions throughout the book.
– Henry is annoying. And horny.
– Emily is annoying.
– Grayson is slightly annoying. Like, come on dude, SEE THE BIG PICTURE!
– Arthur is annoying. He’s just like an angry Charlotte (Ruby Red) who doesn’t really know what to do with his anger.
Also, Arthur reminds me of Tate in American Horror Story.

Is it just me that noticed, because I didn’t notice any character development?? They’re all the same since the first book. Other revelations such as SECRECY had been revealed. Not quite surprising though. I smelled it from a mile away. Also, just like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, the little sister is a lot more smarter and sensible than the older sister. I hope this won’t turn into a trope.
P.S. Unfortunately, there’s not enough Grayson x Liv scenes (in my opinion). I’m one of those weird people who ship non-canon characters. It’s so wrong but do I care? Hell no. The chemistry and romance seems to be lacking from the main ship. It’s why I’m looking elsewhere and shipping different characters together.
This book is ‘kind of’ a mess and there almost seems to be no plot. Most of the time, the characters are in the dream, talking, and rarely at school. I mean, the characters are in school, but it seemed that nothing important is happening. They’re just chatting among themselves.
Spoilers below ↓I know that “the most stupid” isn’t exactly a word. BUT the most stupid character is Liv, the main character. What’s on her mind is usually, how is she going to sleep with Henry if she doesn’t have any experience with that sort of thing. I can’t even begin to tell you how annoying it was because it was pretty repetitive.
Then comes in a new character (I don’t know why he’s there), just to stir up something in Liv’s relationship with Henry. She wanted to USE him just to have ‘experience.’ So even if we all know that Liv is a good character, she does questionable ‘things’. By things, I meant, stealing from the *NEW* character and entering his dreams just so she could learn to be physically intimate with someone.
Liv reminded me of Gwen in Ruby Red when they both spend their waking hours (or for Liv, even when she was asleep), thinking about how to be physically intimate with boys or they both hope the boys did not look at other girls (or become physically intimate with them). An example of an excerpt that seems to be a waste of paper:
“Anabel really was astonishingly beautiful, like a painting that you can’t see enough of, and it was hard work making myself remember that she didn’t look so supernaturally perfect in real life. All the same, I instinctively wondered whether Henry hadn’t stared at her just as fascinated, if he had really come this way recently. When Anabel went on, I felt irrational jealousy rising inside me. Jealousy and a certain amount of anger.”
You’re expecting me to believe that Liv and Henry are in love with each other, when Liv had a closer bond with Grayson compared to Henry?! Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if Henry and Liv were together because of hormones! There really is nothing to bond about except their desire to be physically intimate with each other and the fact that they could meet with each other in their dreams!
To be honest, if I wasn’t listening to the audiobook, then I wouldn’t be finishing this series. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be reading anymore books from Kerstin Gier. It’s really unfortunate because the first book in this series (followed by its sequel) shows so much promise. Anyway, if you’re still a fan of the series, I made a playlist of the first book.
