review 1: ***Spoiler Alert*** What would you do if you were caught in the middle of an ancient saga that begun with your Nordic ancestors. The book Thiefs Eyes is a fantasy novel. In my opinion I think that a Thiefs Eyes was a good book to read because of all the adventure and drama in the novel. Haley travels to Iceland with her father Gabriel to find out what happened to her mother who disappeared one year ago during her trip to Iceland with her husband Gabriel. Haley's father doesnt really want to tell Haley what happened in Iceland a year ago, so Haley goes herself to find out what happened. The setting takes place in Iceland. Haley meets a boy named Ari during one of her jogs in Iceland, it turns out Ari is the son of Kathrin who is Haley's father's coauthor. Later on Haley fin... moreds out the reason her mother ran was because Haley's father had an affair on her with Katrin. When Haley finds out about this she runs from them with Ari behind her, Haley accidently falls off of a cliff and is saved by a raven. When Haley and Ari return no one can see them it's as if they are ghost but are not dead. At the end Haley returns the coin that tied her with her Nordic ancestors, and she and Ari are now visible to everyone. Haley is a sad girl trying to find out what happened to her mother, when Haley loses her memory she is confused about who she is, even though she lost her memory for a short amount of time she knew who she was. Ari is a boy who helps Haley along the way, he barely knows her but he helps save her.Thiefs Eye has alot of adeventure because they travel in time and Ari turns into a polar bear due to a spell put on him. For example in the book it says Ari's jacket turned to liquid and began to flowl. My breadth caught. The change was much faster than before- Ari didnt stop, didnt fall to his knees. In moments he turned into a huge white bear, loping on all fours. A bear that roared and kept running, right a Svan. This book has alot to do with magic. I would compare this book to a book that has to due with adventure and fantasy. I would compare it to Harry Potter because both of these books have to do with magic. I dont think that I can compare this to my life because this book has to do with fantasy and is non-fiction. I liked the book because it was very detailed and you can picture the book in your head. I liked that the book had more than one conflict. I think that the book could have had a better ending. From a scale from 1-10 I would give this book a 7. I rated the book a 7 because the book had a good story to it. I would recommend this book to people who like to read adventure.
review 2: When Haley's mother dispears on a trip to Iceland, Haley and her father return to the scene of her dispearance. Haley soon uncovers an anceint world of blood and fire and finds that her mother has encountered terrible magic. The mythology and the world of magic that Simner creates is unique and engaging. The plot is not particularly orginal, although has some nice twists and bookends. It was a pleasure to read, but, as usual, I find the romantic interests and their resolution odd. Haley has a perfect boyfriend back home, but falls for an Icelandic cutie. By the end, she has an open relationship with her boyfriend and can love both of them for now. Rather odd. less

Iceland and mythology, a great combination. Also a stand alone book, which was very refreshing!

An enjoyable fantasy novel set in Iceland, inspired by Njal's Saga.
