review 1: I really enjoyed the first issue as it steps back to the roots of the Prairie Rose reservation. However we see some major developments in the plot and Dashiell and Shunka finally end up with the showdown foreshadowed throughout the series. However there was also an interesting twist with Dino, disillusioned with the rebuff from Carol, crosses paths with Catcher, gets a break from Karnow, only to be the one who puts a bullet in Karnow's head after Nitz hangs him out to dry without any backup during a bust. Karnow has always wanted to be a hero, but ends his life never quite fulfilling his desire to be the phantom decorated vietnam vet he has been pretending to be his whole career.
review 2: This volume of Scalped was amazing, one of the best installments in a s
... moreuperlative series. While keeping the focus on character and mood, the creators crank up the action to an almost unbearably tense level. This storyline is like the climax to a big action movie or the season finale of a television drama. And the last page, wow, I figured the series would get to that point, but with all of the twists and turns I was not sure if it would really happen. Truly breathtaking and highly recommended. Can't wait to read the final volume. There are still some loose threads, even if the main plot is technically over. less
