review 1: Another great story which is a continuation of Jayne Ann Krentz Arcane series. This story brings the characters who are the decendents of 2 powerful sorcerers from 1600s England, into modern America. Jack Winters, decendent of powerful sorcerer, Nickolas Winters, believes he is succumbing to the family curse, and he is desperate to break it. His only hope is to find his family's missing ancient artifact called the Burning Lamp. He also has to find a woman to "work" the lamp. He hires Chloe Harper, PI to find his Lamp, in hopes that she can help him break the curse, before the rival faction finds him. Lots of great dialog, and action so far. This story gets 4 stars for characterization. It has some very interesting paranormal sexiness as well. Just great fun and o... moref course, this author always delivers a HEA.
review 2: I LOVE Jayne Ann Krentz and I was so excited to try this new series. But this one, I don't know, just didn't do it for me. I finished it, but when I picked it up to read it, I just didn't have any enthusiasm for the story or the characters. And I felt the last third of the story was just setting up the next book in the series. It's a pleasant enough read if you like your romance mixed with a little paranormal. less

If the rest of the trilogy is as good as this first book, I can't wait to read them.
