review 1: I've finished all I'm going to. That is supposed to be a futuristic cop series, but you only know that because of the book jacket. The author provides no background whatsoever for someone who might not read the books in order. You only get an idea because devices used in investigation are occasionally mentioned and I did not know what they were, but get guess by context. But even that is kind of irrelevant because it is not possible for me to know every electronic device that might be out there. Besides her total lack of drawing the reader into the story, I felt the characters were very wooden and were reading off a script. I just couldn't hang with it. If this is typical, I will make no more attempts on Robb, a.k.a. Nora Roberts.
review 2: Once again, N
... moreora Roberts, writing as J.D. Robb in this 28th book of the In Death series, manages to keep the excitement going. The relationship between Eve and Rourke is still going strong, although they don't fight as much in this book, thank goodness! The mystery is well written and interesting with enough twists to keep you guessing. An old nemesis pops up, as happens a good bit in these stories. Promises in Death is another high quality read in the series. less
