Alpha Pack
review 1: Daria and Ryon, my heart swoons. So the story begins by introducing us to the Alpha Pack which is made up of the remaining members of a team of Navy SEALS who was attacked and changed into wolf shifters while on a mission in Afghanistan. They are in human form walking down an alley at night hunting down a band of rogue vampires who are killing humans and leaving their bodies to be discovered. It is the pack's job to make sure paranormals stay a secret. While in the alley they are ambushed and the wolf shifter named Ryon is severely injured. While he lays helplessly wounded, he sees the most beautiful ghost with long black hair, full kissable lips and beautiful brown eyes, he then looses conciousness. The story then shifts to Daria who is a biologist and who shares her fath... moreer's lifelong passion of studying wolves and helping with their conservation. After her father had to retire Daria took over the study of the wolf population in the Shoshone National Forest. After an accident that leaves Daria in a terrible situation she is able to astral project herself to Rayon's bedside and beg him to come find and save her. Daria had a previous vision of Ryon during his attack and knew that he was her only hope to be saved. Ryon does not understand his intense desire to find and save the beautiful woman but he does just that and upon seeing her knows the reason why, she is his true mate, but in order to save her he will have to do something she may never forgive him for. I really loved the bond that slowly developed between Daria and Ryon, Ryon is the sweetest most compassionate, funny wolf shifter. It is not very often that I pull back from a supernatural story and go "Wow, that Daria is super smart" I really loved reading a novel that has a super smart, brave, caring and strong woman as the alpha female instead of some sorry excuse - I dont want to be a wolf I pity myself woman- Very refreshing. As Daria begins to accept her new reality and to decide if she believes in a true mate bond, bodies start to turn up chewed to pieces in the forest surrounding their compound. Working hard to figure out what could have cause that level of destruction the pack comes face to face with a monster that none of them could ever have imagined even in their worst nightmares, a monster scary enough to make the toughest alphas pale. As the wolf pack tries to deal with this newest threat painful secrets are unveiled that change their course and challenge their faith. The romance between Daria and Ryon was hot when it needed to be, sweet when I wanted it to be and was not overdone, it was just perfect. I found this to be a really levelheaded telling of a paranormal story.
review 2: Not sure what it is, but I keep managing to start a series not on book 1. However you have to love a book that involves shape shifters, wolves, and government conspiracies. Daria is a wildlife biologist who keeps an eye on the wild wolves. Daria has some psychic abilities which come in handy when she stumbles onto a crime scene and ends up being pushed off a ledge. Daria knows she is badly hurt so she reaches out to Ryon, someone she has never met, to come rescue her. Ryon answers Daria's call and rounds up some of his wolf shifter pals to look for her. When they discover Daria, after discovering the crime scene, the only way to save her is for Ryon to change her. Daria is his mate and changing her is the only way to save both of them. However how will she react once she is better? Will she be able to forgive Ryon? Can he forgive himself for changing her? less
