review 1: Biblioburro is a a great non fiction book based on Luis Soriana takes all sorts of books to children in faraway villages that would not normally have access to them. The language it is written in is interesting for children and easy to understand. It talks about how supportive his wife if to help him create crates for his "Biblioburro" (The Burro Library) and how she gave him the idea in the first place because she wanted to get rid of the books. The story talks about Luis's great adventure with his burro to carry these books and talks about the struggle to get the burro across the stream and even a bandit trying to rob Luis but he doesn't let any of that stop him from getting the biblioburro to the children. I also love how Winters makes an author's note about Luis and ho... morew his collection of books has grown from 70 to 4,800 because of donations and how it travels every weekend.
review 2: Living in a remote area of Colombia, Luis Soriana spent a lot of time reading, so much that his wife began to worry about the amount of room his book collection was using. They didn’t have a large home. So Luis got the idea to begin traveling to even more remote areas to give the books to those without. He used two burros to carry as many as possible, beginning with a collection of 70 in 2000. When the book was published, Jeannette Winter writes that this collection has grown to over 4,800 books, mostly through donations. She quotes Soriana: People around here love stories. I’m trying to keep that spirit alive in my own way.” It’s an inspiration to hear what one person with a good idea can do, and Jeannette Winter tells the story in her own special way, with a few good words, and beautifully illustrated pages. less
