review 1: Readers of Mastering the VC Game won't come away venture capital "masters", but I found the book informative and easy to read. The author, Jeffrey Bussgang, has been on both sides of the fence (entrepreneur and venture capitalist), so his perspective was insightful. VCs tend to be off the radar for everyone except other VCs and entrepreneurs already looking for cash, making an insider's view more valuable. The start-up world is a high-stakes dance between those with ideas and those with capital. This book highlights strategies for start-ups to hone their pitches and get them in front of the right people, but there's no sugar-coating the situation--having the right idea, the right team, the right time, the right economy, the right support network, and sufficient capital...ar... moree not necessarily enough. But that's what's required to have a chance. This book a good first step.
review 2: ny entrepreneur who might need to speak to VC's will find a tremendous amount of valuable information in this fantastic book. To me, it's perfect: it's fun to read and educational. The book title, and in particular the sub-title, are out of place. The book is too general and certainly doesn't explain in detail to the entrepreneur, how to get a deal on his terms.Similar to the author's popular website, the book should have been called something like "Both Sides of the Table: VC's and Entrepreneurs".My advice; forget the book title and get the book ... it's truly unique. less
