review 1: Three stars. I read this on a little vacation and it was a quick read. It's very light on the mystery (to be clear, if you blink, you'll miss it & the wrap up is lightening fast too) but I enjoyed the setting and the characters were more enjoyable than irritating, so it's all good. I've enjoyed reading McKinlay's Book Lover's series and decided to give this one a try. I'll likely continue reading more in the series. Definitely recommended for fans of the author and anyone looking for a cozy mystery to while away a weekend.
review 2: Jenn McKinlay is one of my favorite authors for a great cozy read. I looked forward to Cloche and Dagger with great anticipation... it was entertaining but fell a little flat. I loved the English setting, the hats, the cousins, Scar
... morelett and Viv with their memories of their hat designing grandmother, Mim. I have hopes for Scarlett to find a new love in Harrison, their handsome financial advisor, after fleeing a very public breakup with a jerk in the US. It just took a while for the crime of passion to take place and the storyline to get rolling. I have to admit I was so sick of Scarlett's offensive name for her cheating ex, I almost gave up on the story. She must have used it 50 times before page 100! I didn't count but it was over the top, I get it, he was a rat. With those quibbles aside it ended up being a good story and I am looking forward to the next book, Death of a Mad Hatter. less
