review 1: Yeah. I did NOT like this one. Besides the fact that it felt like it was just opening up for another series (by ending with this ominous warning about the idea that the trouble maker in the story isn't out of the heroine's life), it was irritating.A lot of the heroines in these paranormal romance stories tend to be self-sacrificing and giving to a fault. They always make the stupid decisions to help those around them, which ends up causing more trouble than helping. They tend to run into danger without thinking. Up until now, while the heroine of this series hasn't pushed that stereotype to a frustrating level for me, in this short story it does. She knows the sudo-villain of the story is trouble, but she still jumps in head first. The heroine is spineless and unwilling to... more stand up for herself, which is completely out of character. And while the author tries to explain this away as not being her fault, because of magic compulsion, it just didn't feel true to me. The heroine had managed to overcome magic manipulation in the past by stronger people and this is the one time she doesn't?Add onto that that the hero continues to fall in my estimation. Rather than the heroine standing up for herself, she looks to the hero to save her from having to grow a pair and he walks away, leaving her in a bad situation. Granted, he probably had no idea it was going to get as bad as it did, but he knew his girlfriend was asking for help and he turned his back on her. Jerk. I still don't understand what she sees in him, other than being hot and flirty. Ugh.
review 2: Jenna Black, Remedial Magic  B004FPYZLQ, Personally, I think it is silly to publish this short tidbit all by itself. Why not place the trilogy in 3 separate sections of one book? It would take a little bit longer to read leaving the reader “satisfied”. It is a waste of time to download 3 tiny “books” . The author is a good writer. She really should consider publishing small series together. I believe in the long run, the reviews would go UP as the reader may feel an entire book was read instead of a teaser. Cute novella, it reminded me of how much I loved this series. One of the best YA I read.

Was way too short and the ending could have been better.
