review 1: For whatever reason I had a harder time getting into this one than I have Echols' other novels. I still enjoyed it, but felt myself more distanced from the characters than I usually do in her novels. I wasn't completely convinced of either of their motivations for their behaviors which was a big part of the problem for me I think. I'm still looking forward to reading the rest of Echols' backlist though as I have pretty much LOVED everything else by her I've read.
review 2: Maybe it's the parent in me, but I have a hard time with a police officer falling for a 17 year old high school senior. I know he's only 19, but she's a minor and he's in a position of authority. It didn't sit quite right with me.I liked John and Meg, I laughed several times at their banter
... more while "working" together. Meg is kind of a messed up girl, but she's got good reason to be.The ending, when John was figuring out his future, made me a little confused. His 180 seemed a little quick.Someday, I think I'll give this another read. I think knowing the story secrets would make it a better read the second time around. less
