review 1: •Brief summaryThis story is about a little girl who is very excited about her birthday party. This little girl starts planning her party 5 months early! She has some very big idea's for her party. For example she want 9, thousand balloons, a 6 zillion layerd cake elephants and a ferris wheel. When her birthday pary is finally here she, there is no harris wheel of moon bounce but it was still the best birthday party ever. (just like she planned)•Audience kindergarden or first grade•Appeal The picture are very detailed. Every page is filled with things to look at. The pictures are very funny with little suprises on each page. •Implementation I would use this for a writting activity. I would have the children write me a story. In there story they would tell me all abo... moreut a party that they would have, if they could have anything they wanted.
review 2: I have two little boys (ages 4 & 8) so they might have liked this a bit more if it was more boyish (not a princess invitation, not 9000 pink balloons and pink streams and pink ice cream and pink napkins). The majority of the book is still a creative child wanting the best birthday party ever. After all, who doesn't want to eat 7 scoops of ice cream with hot fudge sauce, strawberry syrup, rainbow sprinkles and a cherry on top? Who doesn't want a 17-layer cake with each layer a different flavor topped with 6 zillion candles? Who wouldn't want a real castle with towers, a drawbridge, and a moat with goldfish and a serpent? And so on.In the end, she has a "normal" party with pink balloons, pink napkins and pink streamers, a 2-layer chocolate cake with strawberry frosting (her favorite!), and a bunny. less

I don't normally read kids books with human main characters, but this was really cute with great art
