review 1: When I found out Jennifer Loren was writing another book for The Devil's Eyes series I was so excited. I could not wait till it came out and I knew I was going to buy it and more than likely love it like I have the other ones and yep, I wasn't disappointed, another 5 stars! The characters just draw me in and they don't let go. I get so connected to them and I feel their emotions its just amazing. I absolutely love that the women in this series are strong women who can kick some ass! So many books make women out to need a man to be their hero but Jennifer Loren makes her leading ladies be more than women who can hold their own and they can save themselves and even save the men they love. Now at the beginning of the series it just seems like a regular romance with mobsters an... mored action but as it goes along it turns more supernatural with Lords, Devils, Healers and different realms in the world and I was worried that I wouldn't like it but Jennifer really writes it well that its not cliche or stupid. I definitely recommend that everyone really gives this series and any other Jennifer Loren books a chance. I love her writing and I hope others do too!
review 2: Jennifer Loren did it again! And this time....she knocked the wind out of my lungs with the fifth installment of the Devil´s Eyes series. The Masquerade: The Remedy was another fantastic read! A great completion to the series. I´m gonna go ahead and rate this book with 5 out of 5 champagne glasses and explain my thoughts later.Let me start again with Nick Jayzon ( Oh shuush....let me swoon for a bit, okay?...thanks.) That man kicked ass....No, really. He kicked some serious ass in this book! I was shocked and surprised about what he became after his own grandfather ( Dennis Savage ) poisoned him. Nick may have been intimidating ( and sexy!! ) in the first books, but in this one..he was a killing machine ( a sexy as hell killing machine, mind you..) One who´s only purpose was to demolish everything and anyone who wanted to stop him. And still....my love for him never faded. * sigh*...That guy was dangerous to the core! And now to the story.Nick´s wife, Kayla, and the rest of Nick´s family and friends, were dead set on saving Nick from becoming the worst nightmare EVER! Sadly....it was to late and that meant the people who were willing to save Nick, were now trying to kill him. All except for Kayla. She was the only one who wouldn´t give up. With a little help from a few new characters, she found the strength to fight against the ultimate evil! But will she succeed? Will Kayla be able to turn Nick back into the man she loved, the father of her children? This book kept me up all night. I neglected my household and my hubby so I could FINALLY see in which direction Nick and Kalya were heading.I kept wishing that Nick wouldn´t kill his wife throughout the whole book! Page after page...I was bitching to my husband ( poor guy...Oh well * shoulder shrug * ) about how Nick should see Kayla for who she really was.. The Masquerade: The Remedy, was awful, devastating, gut wrenching, sad, desperate, and I felt ready to kill Savage myself! I hated that guy so much. Everytime his character popped up I felt this awful sting in my gut and wanted nothing more than for him to just drop dead. The way Savage treated Nick, his own daughter and even his minions was pathetic. Each and every character that was newly introduced in this book ( I´m not talking about the evil ones...) saved themselves a special place in my heart! Jennifer Loren really does know how to create loveable characters. Do I have a complaint? Yeah. I have two. First.....Ryan....why him?? That made me so sad to see that scene. Heartbreaking!!!! Totally sob worthy! And second: The series is over. Done with. I have a hard time accepting that, because the author created so many chances for this series to continue..:-)MY personal wish came true when i reached the end of the book. I felt so much pride for Kayla and Nick. What they went through was beyond anything normal. But their bond just showed me that nothing can destroy true love. Not even the devil himself. My opinion of the author:I came upon Jennifer Loren´s books through a recommendation and it was the best I received so far. A big THANK YOU to Lisa Ashmore ( give me more, babe! ) The author made the complete series ( The Devil´s Eyes ) exciting and captivating....always making her audience hold their breath. Her writing style is simple and fun. Her stories flow fluently and never get bored. I have no doubt this author will hit it big really soon. The Divas Book Blog are giving The Masquerade: The Remedy ( book # 5 The Devil´s Eyes series) 5 out of 5 champagne glasses. less
