review 1: Words can't describe how perfect this book was. It was even better than Maid of Secrets, which completely took me by surprise. In the previous book, I was not a fan of Beatrice at all, but this book has made me love her more than any of the other maids. The character development, the writing, the depth that you see Beatrice's thoughts are all so well done, and I would be a liar if I said I wasn't a bit in love with Alisdair MacLeod. Not only that, but the intrigue that goes with the court politics and seeing the Queen in different lights just spins an enchanting story that demands to be read. I would recommend this book to my friends, to my family, to my dog, to some stranger on the street. And with that, I must say I am simply dying for future books about the Maids of H... moreonor.
review 2: This one made me feel all the feels. I loved reading about Beatrice and I loved her friendship with the rest of the Maids of Honor, the way they took care of each other. I wasn't sure about Alasdair at first (though I'm rereading Maid of Secrets now, so I may change my mind), but I eventually came around to him. He knew how to bring the swoon. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series (I think there will be more) and wonder which of the Maids will be the main character next time around. less

Protag is less likable than the first book, but I'd still read the next installment.
