review 1: A vivid portrait of another time and place, not so long past, but which seems like another world compared to the pace of modern life - and yet remains real, and vibrant. Although some of the characters seem almost one-dimensional, the recurring themes of family, love, and the sometimes complex relationships therein pull it all together, and makes you care about what happens to these people - or at least, it did me. Recommended.
review 2: Beautifically written and difficult to put down, the author forced the reader to feel truly invested in almost every single one of the main characters.
