review 1: This book does not have a typical story with a beginning, middle, and end. Despite this fact, I think it still definitely appeals to children. The appeal in this book is the pictures and the way the pictures are organized. For example, there are many flaps for the kid to open and the book continues to repeat itself while getting deeper and deeper in to the story. Children tend to like things in which they can interact with the book (open the flaps) and also things that they can predict what might happen next.
review 2: This book is clever, well made, and great for toddlers - repetition and colors - but WOW. it is NOT a storytime book. I had a small group so I decided to try it, laying the book flat on the floor with everyone crowded around: but doing it that wa... morey didn't communicate that it was a story for sitting and listening, and everyone ended up either over-involved (grabbing at the book and shouting color names out without listening to the story) or backing off and ignoring it completely. So it's great, but it's not for storytime. less
