review 1: God, this book was just so much more darker than the first one. Which did surprise me a bit. Even though the first book didn't really have that much romance in the sense that it was sober romance, this one had even less. But! That didn't stop the emotions running between Nova and Quinton. I feel that this book was more about the drugs and the darkness than really about just Nova and Quinton, which I didn't expect, since it's called Saving Quinton. I enjoyed reading more about their pasts and learning how much it fucked with their brains, both Nova and Quinton. I thought that it was important to the book because it added so much more sense and understanding for me as a reader, who has not necessarily been through what the characters have went through. And, boy, did Ms. Sore... morensen put emphasis and detail in the book. I'll admit that some parts of the book were a little hard to read because they were so descriptive (but maybe I'm just a wimp, and terrified of needles). Tristan did surprise me in this book, and I'm so glad he did. Another aspect of the book I liked was the fact that Nova's mom was still so involved with her life, and tried to keep track of her as much as possible while still giving her, her freedom as an adult. It just seems that a lot of books skip out on the parental aspects and just focus on the boy/girl romance. Although the ending didn't seem as gripping as the first one, I still want to read and figure out what else happens in their unorthodox relationship and with this crazy book, because I do feel that it's worth it especially when the story's this good.
review 2: Since we last saw Quinton, he has spiraled further down the rabbit hole, his guilt & despair eating him up from the inside. Let's not forget all the drugs in his system, the lack of hygiene & your basic 3 meals a day that he has been without. He is living on loose change he appropriates from opening car doors & anything he can scrounge from raiding the neighborhood homes. He has lost all hope & is trying to get to the one place he thinks he wants, the grave. He is so sure that no one will miss him when he dies since his family all but accused him in the death of his cousin & girlfriend.Quinton is not aware of the fact that Nova has been searching for him for the last 9 months & once she does track him down in Vegas she is on her way & Quinton is her mission. She is going to do everything in her power to help him the way he saved her. Of course an addict does not want to be helped until he hits rock bottom & his loved ones can hopefully be there when he is falling.Very powerful & must say depressing read, really gives some insight into the mind of not only an addict but an individual who is totally lost. This combination is even more dangerous to everyone involved. less

This is a very heavy, dark and serious read – there are no unicorns or rainbows… Jessica Sorensen writing style pulls you into the darkness and lets you feel everything. It was brilliant and heart shattering all at the same time. Quinton is a complete and utter mess and it was absolutely gut wrenching to watch Nova struggle to help him. I loved Nova’s strength, even know they are both damaged, she never gives up on him… My heart literally ached for Quinton as I read this book. Still living in the past and unable to forgive himself, Quinton is on a total downward spiral in this book. Jessica has done her research well as I literally lived in these dark scenes with Quinton…I felt his pain and was with him getting high on drugs to forget his inner turmoil. These scenes were so well done – I felt as if I were in a movie experiencing every second so vividly in my mind. Breaking Nova was a sucker punch to the stomach, and Saving Quinton was a well placed follow up. You know it’s coming, so you brace for it this time, but there is not amount of bracing that can prepare you for what was spilled on these pages. Read This Book!

I just can't process this! I literally felt like I was on drugs reading this. I hadn't read a review or even the synopsis so had no clue what to think other than I love the author and wanted to read it. From the beginning was sucked in and felt like I was living in that trashed out drug house. I just can't get how anyone couldn't see past that to better themselves. My heart breaks! I don't think there is anything happy about this book, be prepared to feel broken and in need of saving. It's so well written and researched that it yanks you in and spits you out. I didn't realize it was a series until the end. So I am reading it backward, but geeez,I am to sure I am ready for it yet.
