review 1: OK - there is a good bit to say about this one. First - and I know I updated this early on, but it didn't save for some reason... - the whole vegan/yoga/spread the wealth was really overdone. In the beginning, for God's sake, she was having sex, and we got to read the yoga position she moved into. Really? Ugh. I have no problem reading about vegans/self proclaimed tree huggers - or whatever label a character could give themselves, but it does not need to be forced down our throats at every single opportunity. I nearly stopped reading a few times. I did like her character, though - she took no shit, and didn't feel the need to broadcast everything she has and has been through (I mean, *we* don't really know it all yet). She had friends, was loyal to them, and she di... moredn't hesitate to call Quinn out when something happened that she didn't like. Quinn - he grew on me. I still don't like how obtuse he seems to be when it comes to Olivia, and want to see more of his meddling sister and why she seems to be such a bitch. I would like to learn a little more about him, and I hope we will in book 2. The revelation by Eden made it seem like every girl in the city was with him, hoping to be chosen (?!). Anyway, the cliffie (no pun intended!) made it impossible not to read book 2. I am looking forward to it, I just hope all the preachy-ness is toned down. Or that I overlook it.
review 2: Opposites attract. Everything changes. Love comes when you least expect it. Phrases we have all heard and more or less, believed. This is a story where Quinn, a man open for everything and wishing to drink life down, meets Addy, a woman closed off to the world, wishing life would just flow around her. They are complete opposites, who end up complimenting each other. Like fire and water, their union is hot and absolutely steamy... but how long before they are both consumed by the other?Surprisingly, for a romantic erotica book, I was thrilled to read this story. I found Adler so grounded, so loveable, so easy for me to connect with her. And Quinn's charm was dripping from each page effortlessly, him moving with the calculated ease of an exotic predator. Their relationship had all the elements to spark for as long as they kept it alive. And then the drama came. And it was all shot to Hell :(I am not happy. I loved this story so much up until the point where communications broke down, misunderstandings and internal over-analysis took over, and it all collapsed like a house of cards. Shame... less
