review 1: Sarah took wallflower to new heights, she drove me bloody nuts. For 12 years her world revolved round the supremely arrogant womanising Devlin who didn't even know she existed, who at a ball and with cutting disinterest glanced past her to rest on her beautiful bestie Lily who was standing at her side. Credit to Lily she did everything she could to channel Devlin's interest toward Sarah but the man just got even more obnoxious and the little dialogue they did exchange Sarah stuttered and kept stuttering. Lily had to manipulate an unhappy Devlin to take Sarah for a sleigh ride which neither enjoyed. I had to ask myself repeatedly what did Sarah love about him? The man wasn't even likeable let alone loveable, so when he began to show interest, finally, it simply didn't ring ... moretrue.Weak stammering female characters and overbearingly rude male characters might be your thing but they're not mine.
review 2: The premise of The Winter Wish is a good one, but it is missing quite a few elements to make it a story I could like more. Both of the main characters, Sarah and Devlin, needed filling out more, and it would have been good to read more of Devlin's life - the tale is very skewed in Sarah's favour. There were also several grammar and language issues that should have been smoothed out prior to publication. less

Quick read. Not very historically accurate, but a fun little novella that I got for free.

Not realistic by any stretch of the imagination. Not fantastic, but not un-enjoyable.

It was short, but totally sweet.
