review 1: A whopping good yarn and you can bet I will be reading the next two books in the series, The Case of Moomah's Moolah and The Case of Tiffany's Epiphany. A really good old fashined whodunit that kept me guessing from beginning to end and ended up with a twist at the end that while not unique in its premise was certainly uniquely handled. The case revolves around an extremely wealthy mercantile trader who is found dead crushed under a collapsed rock wall in his own rock garden. Our intrepid hero Richard Sherlock, former Chicago PD detective who got canned after punching the D.A. in the nose and who is now working as an insurance investigator, must unravel the killer in order to keep the man's $12 million policy from paying. The trip from beginning to end is a serious investi... moregation interspersed with many episodes of side splitting humor to lighten the mood a bit.
review 2: Took awhile for me to get into this book. I was tempted to put it down and call it a loss. Slow start and it felt like I was missing a lot. Like there was a book one I should have read first. Oh wow am I glad I kept at it. Amazing characters, great story telling, and a top-notch mystery. I still am not quite sure if Tiffany is naive as she appears to be, and Norbet is a great secondary character. I will definitely pick up Book 2 of this set. less
