review 1: I almost didn't read this book due to a reviewer saying that it was based off of a Edward and Bella fanfic, and they are two characters I can't stand. Well let me just say this I will eat my humble pie, this book was fantastic and a roller coaster ride of emotions. My emotions were all over the place with this book, it ran the gamut from disbelief, fear, happiness, sadness and joy. When a book can push all those buttons for me emotionally, it's a 5 star read. I liked that some of the "bad guys" weren't truly bad and that had good sides that gave them the capability to feel. Some may be bothered by the Mafia aspect but I actually loved the reality of what goes on in that world. Another thing that amazed me was the modern day slavery aspect. Although I've heard of slaver... morey in other less developed countries it still boggles my mind that this is something that goes in The "land of the free" I'm glad the author was able to shed some light on this heinous practice. Now on to the main characters, I lovedddddd Carmine and Haven they were so sweet together. Although he could be a prick, Carmine was my type of guy, kinda arrogant but hot as hell at the same time and willing to do anything to protect his loved ones. Haven was a sweetheart, although treated as basically an animal all her life she was able to retain her humanity and still feel and give love. I loved these two together and their cast of friends and family that surrounded them. Although young, these two were able love and honor one another amongst that chaos that was their lives. I rank them in my Top Ten favorite couples of all time. I like this authors style and will definitely continue to read this series and others.
review 2: Sempre Review This is a story with a lot going on ... In the beginning of the story Haven decides to run for her safety and doesn't succeed; she is than captured and taken to a new home where she meets the son of the household Carmine. As the story progresses Haven and Carmine build a relationship even with the many mood swings from Carmine. During the course of this book a lot happens that draws you into the story and makes you fall in love with the characters. When Dr. DeMarco has Carmine teach Haven how to drive made me laugh out loud and thankful that I don't have to learn that again. So much happens in this book with different details that I can't even get into because it gives away the storyline. I enjoyed this story from beginning to end and will definitely be reading the second. less
