Goddess Girls
review 1: In this Goddess Girls book the Olympics have come to MOA! There's only one problem; GIRLS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO COMPETE! The girls decide to create a separate olympics JUST for girls but will any boys sign their petition. Meanwhile giants arrive at MOA their hearts set on competing (and winning) the Olymics.Being a girl myself I enjoyed this one. It was definitely good to have it written from Artemis' point of view. At some points I did feel like kicking some of the boys (but that just added to the story!). There are a couple of storylines running along side each other in this book but they were all written well and they all ended well. The storyline with the giants was awesome and it was cool to see some different beings (as all we have really seen so far are gods and mortal... mores)We meet a few new charecters in this one (or we see them devolop a lot more) including Acteon, Otus and Ephialtes. I think my favourite part of this book has to be the part where Apollo faces the Python - the riddles were really cool. I really enjoyed this book. It has made me realise just how much I love all the Goddess Girls. Now I'm off to make sure I rated the rest of them 5 star too!
review 2: The book is about the goddess named Artemis who attends Mount Olympus Academy. The Annual Olympic Games are coming up and she wants to compete in them, but according to Zeus, the King of the Gods and also the principal at the Academy, only boys are allowed to compete in the games! Not fair!! Artemis is also better at sports than most of the godboys. So, Artemis decided to do something about it by drawing up a petition for a Girls-Only Olympics! The purpose of the petition was so Zeus would see that lots of students were in support of the Girls-Only Olympics. It also didn’t hurt that Hera, a goddess that was dating Zeus, was on Artemis’ side and wanted to help.Other kids would enjoy this book because it is full of suspense and makes you want to keep turning the pages and read more. There is fun around every corner; you feel you are actually in the book with Artemis going through all the amazing stuff that she encountered!Apollo, Artemis’ twin brother, had entered the Python-O-Thon contest at the Annual Olympics Games. The Python-O-Thon was a new contest in the Olympics in which the competitors had to answer two tricky riddles posed by the biggest and trickiest serpent, the Parnassus Python. Artemis wanted to help her brother win the contest so she snuck into the gymnasium to find out what the Python’s weakness was. When she sneezed, she awakened the Python which then hypnotized her and made her confess what her brother’s weakness was instead! The next day, Apollo won the contest against the Python even though the Python knew what Apollo’s weakness was. Apollo had prepared for the contest diligently and outdid the Python with his wits. His prize was a temple in his honor! This book is special because it teaches you about Greek mythology set in modern times. Also, as I mentioned before, you feel like you’re in an amazing adventure with Artemis.I give this book a 4 1/2 star rating.Review by Young Mensan Roksanna K., age 8, Broward Mensa less
