review 1: Why does this book get a five star rating? The author deftly carries several romance threads throughout this novel and interweaves them, successfully. The interest in the story never wanes. The characters are fully developed and memorable. The language is vivid, evoking many laugh out loud lines and moments. It's a traditional western wit containing the elements of good vs. evil, yet the author places her own unique spin upon how that plays itself out. This was my first time in reading a Jodi Thomas novel, and it won't be my last. Bravo and kudos on a work well done.
review 2: This is a 4.5 book as well as her whole series of Whispering Mountain novels. This was one of the best group of books I have read in a long time and the last was the best. She ha... mores captured a closeness between people that few people can explain. Her storie are full and exciting and show a lot of the country during this time period. All the family come back to Whisptering Mountain to heal and to love. They are pulled by family but not always by blood. less
