The Twelfth Imam
review 1: The Twelfth Imam is the first in a series of new books by noted author Joel Rosenberg, whose previous works were also geopolitical thrillers and prophetic in scope. In this book, he introduces David Shirazi, a CIA operative, who is sent undercover into Iran to discover more about Iran’s nuclear capabilities. David’s ancestry is Iranian, and the beginning of the book describes how his family escaped from Iran in 1979 during the Islamic uprising. Because of his ability to speak Farsi fluently, and the “legend” the CIA created for him, he is able to integrate himself into the lives of the government’s upper echelon. While he is working to undermine Iran’s nuclear program, the prophecy of a Muslim messiah seems to be fulfilled through an obscure religious cleric... more who is seen as the Twelfth Imam.Rosenberg uses this fictional work to teach Christians about Muslim beliefs, particularly those concerning the End Times, providing a plausible scenario of how events could unfold in the coming days to reveal that the Muslim messiah is actually the prophesied Antichrist of the Bible.
review 2: This book is a real page turner (or whatever term you'd use for an audiobook)! I wasn't sure what was going on partway through the book, but that question was resolved. The story sounded a bit preposterous when I was describing it to my husband, but didn't seem so as I listened to it. In very unexpected ways it fit with the biblical prophecies that are quoted in it.Warning: This is the first in a series and the end makes it imperative to go on to the next book in the series. less

Quite good. I didn't know it was an overtly Christian book (much like the "Left Behind" series.

I enjoyed this book. A fast, easy read that could have been taken from today's headlines.
