review 1: Almost a 3....I did like this read...only again with all the other K.A. members getting involved as a group to give her the sex that they know she needs...uuhh she was scared... yea once her body betrayed her over and over again and what they were doing to her of course it would feel good..but at the start when they all came into the room holy shit...she was scared, and I felt that. But hey they all left her gifts..a string of pearls, diamond nipple claps and a sex swing and they had broken down her walls to be able to fully give herself to Matt the man she loved. So I read book 4 first, then I read this book 1, I bought book 5 (Ben's story) he's the hardest of the Doms. If it's sex that your looking for (and who isn't) here it is. Fast, short read.
review 2: ... moreI've read many of Joey Hill's novels and I think she is a terrific writer. But this one (apparently an early attempt by her at BDSM/romance) pissed me off. A beautiful, strong, highly competent 35-year-old woman (still a virgin!) runs a company, yet somehow is reduced to a quivering submissive by the hero's "dominance" (aka total disregard for her consent) when he gags her, binds her onto this weird contraption and basically sexually assaults her. Even better, he brings his buddies in to take part in the assault, promising them stock options! I realize this is supposed to be fantasy, but the nonconsensual aspect of that whole scene really turned me off. (For MUCH better examples of Ms. Hill's work, I recommend Natural Law or Ice Queen.) less
