review 1: I received A Mermaid’s Kiss free through Goodreads First Reads contest. I entered for this book after reading two of Joey W. Hill’s books in the Nature of Desire series.I was curious to see how a story that combined angels, mermaids, humans and other mystical creatures would develop. I was not disappointed. I was prepared for the typical romance novel, however A Mermaid’s Kiss was a mystical stew of intrigue. Hill’s story telling is very descriptive, with a good dose of humor throughout. You’ll also find light BDSM elements.
review 2: I read this book when it was in trade, but since I won the mass market I thought I'd give it a re-read. I read the trade to the point of wearing out the binding, so I was thrilled to win a new copy. :) This is a sequ... moreel to The Little Mermaid with a definite ADULT feel. It's also the first book of a series, that incorporated mermaids, angels, and vampires.What would you do if an Angel fell into the ocean in front of you? Would you try to save him or let him die? Those are questions Anna, our heroine, doesn't even ask herself--she saves him. That's her first and only instinct, despite Jonah's, the hero's, wishes. So begins a Mermaid's and Angel's journey from the Ocean to the Grand Canyon. They fight each other, Dark Ones (the enemy), and fate to the end. I laughed and I cried. I loved the Little Mermaid and when I read Joey's version of the history, I felt so bad for the original and all of her daughters and granddaughters. I'm so glad that Anna survived the curse that plagued all her ancestors. I was even happier when I found the next book in the story. less
