review 1: This short book by John Blase covers the Christmas cast from Gabriel, Mary, Joseph and Elizabeth to the ancient Simeon and Anna. Each describes their encounter with the Bethlehem's Babe. They tell their stories with great emotion. It is worth the price of the book just to read Luci Shaw's, Recognition in the Prelude of the Book. That piece alone will find its place in my list of Christmas readings. The characters in each chapter will enrich my preaching for years to come.

... moren ordinary carpenter chose to be the earthly father of the Lord; the shepherds were smelly, uncouth laborers; the stable was a dirty hut for animals. Yet each of the people responded to God's call in spite of their questions, doubts, and fears. This is a great reminder that God can use each of us, no matter how inadequate we may feel. less
