review 1: Loved this book so much more than I thought I would at first. I thought the historical accuracy of the life of the Romanov kids could have been a little better. The descriptions I have read in the past put them as much more down to earth and not quite so doted upon. I also thought the main character, Georgy, could have been written a little differently. I never knew what exactly to think of him. He seemed smart, and simple-minded at the same time. Overall- a good read!
review 2: I have a wee obsession with the Romanov Dynasty and spent the better part of my undergrad determined to become a professor of Russian history....so this book was like water on a hot day. It is a historical fiction based just before the Russian revolution told from the perspective of a s... moreervant. I can't say much more about the story as to not give away any of the plot. Sufficieth to say the author did their homework, it was historically accurate and exceptionally written. If you enjoy historical fictions this is a must read. less
