review 1: The sequel to Shadowmagic, and the second book in the series of the same name is a well crafted tale and doesn't disappoint. The pacing borders on leaving the reader breathless and the world is so well built that this has been a true joy to read. The introduction to Brendan, a Scranton cop, to the list of characters leads to a brilliant first few chapters. His reactions to The Land had me cracking up. Connor is sympathetic to his plight, unlike the rest of denizens which leads to some memorable dialog and antics. While there are enough lighthearted moments to make this feel fun, our heroes are once again fighting for their lives. Lenahan isn't afraid to spill blood in his stories and does so without flinching when it is necessary. He's not George R R Martin so you don't hav... moree to be all that afraid of losing a character to which you've become attached. So far this series has been a fun ride. While I don't agree that it's on the level of Lord Of The Rings (A quote on one of the covers) it's a fine tale and genuinely fun to read. It really ought to be next on your list if you're a fan of fantasy.
review 2: Loved this second book in the Shadowmagic series. Connor has fallen to earth with a huge bump and he doesn't like what he finds. He finds himself arrested and comes clean about the land of Tir Na Nog to a sceptical FBI agent. We meet Connor's mum, a powerful witch, and journey back to Tir Na Nog, FBI agent and all. A wonderful romp, beautifully written and left me eager to read the final book in the series. less
