review 1: An interesting little book, I guess technically a novella. Being quite short, it was a quick and easy read. The format reminds me of World War Z (the book). I felt like there were a lot of elements in the story that could have been expanded upon, such as the impact of the disease in other countries, how the overwhelming number of bodies was dealt with, what it was like for children growing up in threeps, etc. If there had been more details on those kinds of topics, then I probably would have given it 5 stars. But I suppose the story serves its purpose as a prequel and background for the author's full-length novel Lock In.
review 2: Hmmmm, thought I marked this read, and I hadn't. I'm not a short story fan (if you have read my reviews, you know that) but t
... morehis was a good one. While not wonderful, it was neat to get the full background into how Haden's got it's start and what they went through. The thought he put into setting it all up is crazy and it was neat to hear about it through the words of the people who lived it. It was a neat read. less
