review 1: This beautiful book is short on words, and full of active gouache illustrations. Two children share a month by month year of friendship fun-- from playing in the snow, to dancing in the rain, and playing on the beach. In wonderful picture book format, the pictures tell more of the story than the simple, easy to read text. Young children, ages 3-7, will enjoy listening to this book as a read aloud or reading it independently. Due to the detailed nature of the pictures, this book will work best as an individual lap sit read or sharing with a small group. Take time to enjoy the playful artwork as you read.
review 2: A girl and boy and their animal friends, a cat and a dog, move through the months of the year while celebrating what makes each one special. The messa... morege is endearing as are the pastel illustrations that show smiling children. I love the image of the orange cat bringing a Valentine note to the boy who welcomes the kitty and pulls it into a warm embrace while continuing to read a book and enjoy some hot chocolate. Yes, February is "time for snuggling" (unpaged). The last page seems to indicate that more fun lies ahead with even more friends. less
