review 1: Very average. Very plain. Very Jane. There is nothing great to write about this book. If you ask yourself "if I did not read this book, what would I have missed?", the answer would be - NOTHING. This is a story of a dreary old P.I. No fireworks, no intrigue, no twists. Nothing. And what a shabby, absolutely boring and meaningless ending. This book is available for free on kindle. Pick it up only if you have nothing better to do. It's time for a Jack Teacher, just to get back into the swing of things.
review 2: There are lots of things I don't like about this book. The punctuation. The fact I knew what would happen about 1/3 of the way through. The racism. The anti feminist slant. The fact the main character uses a rotary phone. That all females - except one "bu
... moretch bitch" - wear skirts. Those last thee things wouldn't have been quite so annoying if the story hadn't been set in 1990. There really isn't much to recommend this book. The main character is a stereotype, the mystery isn't so mysterious, there are all sorts of annoying things. There is one character who is constantly referred to as "the lady" by most of the other characters, even though she has a name and is a pretty important part of the story. I read it during a long car ride and was happy it was a freebie. I don't think I'll be buying the others in the series. less
