review 1: this book is a really long trek to get finished & finally get to the end.by page 130 I was bored & I did not like the characters much at all. The next 350 pages were very good & kept me very interested in what was going to happen. but by the last 200 pages I just wanted it to finish.the ending was quite satisfying. but the book really could have been chopped down by about 200 pages. Sometimes it just went on and on.The writing is clever , & I think the writer knows this. which is why I felt that it was a bit too repetitive. But having said that it is a good solid read with interesting characters.
review 2: This was entertaining and a quick read - it was probably the quickest read of the year for me. Despite all the faults I saw in it as I moved along, it was
... moreimpossible for me to put it down, which is why I gave it 3 stars. But I did fail to see the qualities that turned this book into such a phenomenon. A couple characters are a bit insipid, others are downright annoying and there's a whole lot of unreal dialogues and situations, especially when it comes to the love story depicted in there. Still, I had fun, as I have a weak spot for murder mysteries, and I do recommend it if one's willing not to take it so seriously. less

A very enjoyable book - written in an Anglo Saxon style this book has the feel of a translated book although it is written by homegrown Swiss author. It is essentially a whodunit that is easy to read and has a fun plot that keeps you guessing. I strongly recommend to anyone who wants to read in French but who is often put off by the French literary style. Anyone expecting high literature or deep philosophical thought (as they might well do, given the number of awards this book has received) will be disappointed. This is a good holiday read. Off to see if M. Dicker has written anything else now!

Muito bom. Lembra um pouco O nome da rosa. No aspecto da devoção ao conhecimento e a literatura.

Contrived but the plot kept me entertained. Minus points for the racist caricature of Mrs Goldman.

Harry Q. Davasının Ardındaki Gerçek, Can Yayınları. Çok başarılı bir polisiye.
