Fast food companies, shoe companies and more are leveraging your ability to suspend disbelief and suggesting the heroic cure for a sense of emptiness is to buy... everything. This makes for unhappy people and on a larger scale this situation is leading the world towards potential disaster as Nature's resources are being plundered and there aren't enough to sustain reckless growth for much longer. A technologized return to more traditional story-telling traditions must be some part of the solution at this decisive mome... morent in Human development.
